Chen Qiyu Attended Sino - ASEAN Drug Safety Summit Forum
The 2nd Sino - ASEAN Drug Safety Summit Forum sponsored by SFDA and Guangxi autonomous regional government was held in Nanning on Sep. 3rd. Totally 180 participants, including leaders from Ten member countries of ASEAN and health and drug regulatory authorities in Hong Kong and Macao, leaders from related and direct divisions of state administration, regional FDA representatives and industrial representatives, attended the meeting. Chen Qiyu, Chairman of Fosun Pharma was also invited to attend the forum.
The forum discussed the topic of new perspective of international cooperation in drug safety supervision and focused on regulations on drug import and export in China and ASEAN countries, analyzed the drug safety situation that the countries are facing at, and further enhanced the exchange of drug regulatory authorities between ASEAN countries and China. Yin Li, Deputy Director of SFDA, has delivered his keynote speech and pointed out that China’s FDA authority values international and regional cooperation in drug safety supervision very much. After the 1st forum in 2011, the cooperation has been promoted between the two sides, who share the experience and results of drug supervision, facilitating healthy and sustainable development of drug trading. China is willing to work with ASEAN governments, drug regulatory authorities, international and civil organizations to safeguard drug safety and ensure the public interest.
As an industrial representative, Chairman Chen Qiyu gave his speech named Internationalization of Chinese Pharmaceutical Companies. He analyzed current situation for Chinese companies to go global in the context of international environment, as well as several aspects of internationalization. He believed that it’s inevitable for Chinese enterprises to go global given the present globalization pattern. Fosun Pharma wishes to seize the opportunity through expanding international cooperation and exchange, to share results between Chinese and ASEAN people for common development.
In addition, the officers from health and drug regulatory authorities in China, ASEAN, Hong Kong and Macao regions gave their keynote speeches respectively, discussing the issues that require joint efforts in the process of drug R&D, production, circulation and use, as well as the drug regulatory mechanism, laws and regulations.
