On August 11th, the Sino-Sweden Corporate Social Responsibility Forum, co-organized by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Sweden Embassy in China, was held in the Swedish Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. Fosun Pharma was invited to attend the Forum to discuss the issues on corporate social responsibility and sustainable development together with the senior representatives from related departments of Swedish and Chinese government, related organizations and enterprises, as well as shared its practical experiences and opinions on the above aspects.

As the representative of Chinese private enterprises, Mr. Zhou Wenyue, the Vice President of Fosun Pharma, has discussed the current situation and future of Corporate Social Responsibility together with representatives from two countries such as Baosteel Group, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, IKEA, SKF, H&M and so on. Apart from the above, he also shared Fosun Pharma’s experiences in practicing its corporate social responsibility during the past 16 years as well as its strategies on sustainable development in the future.

Mr. Zhou Wenyue stated that Fosun Pharma has been taking the responsibility to enhance the development of its industry during the past 16 years. Under its own corporate values “To better oneself; to maintain family harmony; to commence one’s career; to foster the prosperity of the world”, the staff of Fosun Pharma always tries to return to the society with gratitude. It set up the Public Benefit Education Project named as Future Star to support Chinese education; it independently developed the anti-malaria medicine - Artesunate and held trainings on anti-malaria while it also have taken part into the public anti-malaria causes in Africa and other countries; its have organized volunteer group, encouraging its staff to return the society spontaneously; it has released reports on Corporate Social Responsibility annually and publicized its development in economic, environment protection and social activities and also invited international credited institutions to audit the report; it has taken part into the donation to Yushu, Wenchuan and other areas suffering from nature disasters.

Refer to the future development, Mr. Zhou Wenyue introduced that Corporate Social Responsibility has already been in the company’s strategy system which will enhance the principle of sustainable development step by step into every business link by setting up maintained Corporate Social Responsibility system. Fosun Pharma will pay attention to innovation and integration at the same time, and develop health pharmacy industry. It has been involved to making more common people enjoying equal rights in health system by its fair price and best service. Besides, it will keep walking in the aspects like economics, environment protection, drug quality and safety, staff as well as society.

Mr. Zhou Wenyue said, as a member of Chinese pharmaceutical industry, Fosun Pharma will actively build outstanding corporate alliances in this industry, continue to take its mission of promoting human’s health, adhere to its concept of “Persist on Innovation and Share with Health”, promote sustainable development in the industry, collect strength for the industry development and witness together a world level pharmaceutical enterprise appearing in China in the future.

The theme of this Forum is Enhancing Mutual Trust for Win-Win Success. Mr. Song Lihong, Deputy Director-General of Comprehensive Department of the Ministry of Commerce of P.R. China, Mr. Wang Xinpei, the Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, the Swedish Ambassador to China as well as other representatives from both countries’ governments, had discussed issues on the roles of government in making an open and reliable free trade system, and so on.
